Or find out what’s new in my life:

September 2019

The 9th Congress of the European Society for Translation Studies (EST) was hosted at Stellenbosch University this year. An event not to be missed – which is why SATI (the South African Translators’ Institute) decided to be present with a stand to inform participants about our services. At the same time we were able to sit in at interesting paper presentations and panel discussions about the future of translation.

July 2019

I spontaneously took over four students for German as a Foreign Language for a language centre in Port Elizabeth. The instruction via Skype offers a welcome balance to the rather more lonely work as a translator.

I would also like to wish all clients and colleagues a wonderful summer! I am taking a break over August and will be back in the office with lots of energy from September.

May 2019

I successfully completed the intensive course “Economics and Business Administration” – now it’s time to put it into practice!

February 2019

Start of the advanced part of the intensive course “Economics and Business Administration” with these modules: Strategic Marketing Planning, Project Management and Personnel Management.

January 2019

Happy New Year! The new year starts with a new service: In cooperation with graphic designer Johanna Leitner I am now able to offer translation + DTP. This way you get ready-to-print brochures and flyers.

The SATI Council started the new year with a strategic planning weekend in Muldersdrift. From 18 to 20 January five of us sat over a full agenda: membership criteria, training and mentoring, evens, African languages, marketing, admin, etc. The staff at Misty Hills made sure we never ran out of coffee and snacks, and at lunch and dinner we used every opportunity for a good laugh. We departed with an action plan for 2019 and lots of lovely memories!

December 2018

It’s the start of the summer holidays in South Africa and I am off not only to celebrate Christmas but also to enjoy a summer vacation. I wish all clients and colleagues a wonderful time off and an excellent start into the new year!

October 2018

I cooperated with Leonie von Reppert-Bismarck for the third time: In 2019 our German translation of Caroline Lea’s novel “The Glass Woman” will be published by Harper Collins.

Start of the nine-month intensive course “Economics and Business Administration”, a correspondence course at Fernuniversität Hagen, Germany. This should give me the necessary insights to include more business topics into my translation portfolio.

August 2018

I finished the first non-fiction translation for Vahlen Verlag: “Ogilvy über Werbung im digitalen Zeitalter” by Miles Young will probably be published in 2019.

May 2018

I am now a Council Member of the South African Translators’ Association (SATI). Together with chairperson Eleanor Cornelius, vice chair Peter Mekgwe, executive director Theresa Bender and colleagues Delphin Hlungwane and Linda Botha we are committed to leading the translation industry into the future.
