„When language and style are concerned, you are always our first choice,” a client commented recently. And that is what I always aim for: texts that appeal to the reader – in the German translation as much as in the English or Spanish original.
Translating means more than simply transferring words from one language into another. Languages are alive and in flux. And each culture has a unique influence on the use and meaning of words. An old translation phrase serves as my rule of thumb: translate as literally as possible and as freely as necessary. Or, rather: it is not about the individual words, but their meaning within the cultural context.
This approach results in very well formulated and culturally accurate texts that are easy to read and convincing.
